BIO - LUCIANO VASCONCELOS
Luciano Vasconcelos is a bassist, music producer, arranger, and composer, born on June 7, 1975, in Maceió, Alagoas, Brazil.
His musical journey began in 1992, when he learned his first guitar chords from his father, Baiá, and a close friend, Laurinho. At seventeen, he discovered the electric bass — an encounter that sparked a lifelong passion for music and a dream to travel the world as a musician.
New friendships and opportunities soon opened doors, leading him to meet some of the most influential bass players in his hometown — Zé Pantaleão, Guga, Félix Baigon, Gancho, Zé Roberto and Fernando Nunes — all of whom deeply shaped his musical foundation.
In 1995, Luciano left his hometown in search of new horizons, moving to Porto Velho, Rondônia, where he performed as bassist in a dance band formed by fellow musicians from his region. After a year and a half, he returned home more determined than ever to pursue his artistic path.
By 1999, he had settled in Salvador, Bahia, joining the innovative project Lampirônicos as bassist. Over five years with the group, he recorded two albums released under Sony Music’s Epic label.
Between 2000 and 2005, Luciano became co-owner, composer, and music producer of the band Navio Negreiro, which earned the European Award “Alarga a Sua Vida” in the World Music category.
In 2004, he was nominated for the Caymmi Trophy in the category of Best Music Director.
For the past eight years, Luciano has been based in Lisbon, Portugal, where he continues to work extensively across Lusophone countries, Africa, Europe, Asia, and North America, carrying forward a career defined by creativity, versatility, and an unmistakable musical identity.
Throughout his career, Luciano Vasconcelos has performed both live and in the studio as a bassist alongside a remarkable range of artists across the globe.

The debut solo album by Luciano Vasconcelos — bassist, music producer, arranger, and composer — entitled “Intuição”, features five original compositions shaped by the musical influences he has gathered throughout his career.
Over the years, as a bassist, Luciano has had the privilege of experiencing and engaging with diverse cultures across the Brazilian, Latin American, American, European, and African musical landscapes.
All of these encounters played a vital role in shaping the creative vision behind “Intuição”, his first solo work.
Blending captivating harmonies, vibrant rhythms, and the freedom of improvisation, the album embodies the artistic essence and musical identity of Luciano Vasconcelos.
